Leadership tussle between top management officers of the Imo Newspapers, publishers of the Statesman is said to have set the place in crisis.
According to Imo Trumpeta investigations, the row is between the General Manager, Mr Remy Obi, and the Acting General Manager, Mrs Magret Diala.
Imo Trumpeta was told that the fight of supremacy between the two top officers has torn the place into shreds.
It was learnt that the staff of the establishment have divided into two camps, with each group expressing loyalty to Obi or Diala.
Imo Trumpeta unveiled that trouble started about three month ago when Remy Obi went for leave.
Remy Obi, it was learnt, handed over to the next senior officer behind him, which is the Editor – in – Chief, one Nnamdi Odoemelam.
Hardly had Obi left the premises than an instruction came from the office of the former Commissioner for Information, Dr Obinna Duruji directing that Odoemelam should handover to a certain Mrs Magret Diala, said to be the company secretary, far bellow the rung of organogram of officers to assume the office of the General Manager.
However, the only problem now is that Remy Obi has resumed work, but has not gotten access to the office, as he now hangs around under trees, as Mrs Magrete Diala has refused to hand – over.
Imo Trumpeta learnt that Mrs Diala who has no idea of Newspaper reporting or publishing got employment through the former Board Chairman of Imo Newspaper, Dr Fabian Ihekweme, who is his in –law.
Most of the staff who spoke to Imo Trumpeta under anonymity passed a vote of no confidence on Mrs Diala, saying she is a green horn on the job, and wondered why the substantive General manager have not resumed office after spending his leave.
When Imo Trumpeta put a call to Mrs Diala, the phone rang repeatedly without reply, same for Mr Remy Obi.
