Nigeria under 20 female team (Falconets) needed a 109th minute header from Imo State born Desire Oparanozie to make it trough to the FIFA under 20 semi final berth.
The Falconets had to stand firm against the strong looking Mexicans for the normal duration time of 90 minutes without any goal for either sides before Oparanozie who has formed a formidable striking force with Francisca Ordega rose high to nod home a pull – out from full back Ugo Njoku.
Nigeriawas a loosing finalist to hostGermanyin the 2012 edition and are looking good for yet another final berth. They will now wait for the winner betweenNorth KoreaandUnited States of Americain one of the quarter final games today.
The team has not lost any match since their opening victory againstSouth Korea, but were held to a 1 – 1 draw byBrazilbefore the pounced onItalyto qualify for the quarter final.
The team will have to work on their physical strength especially against the North – Koreans and the Germans if they want to win the tournament as it showed on the players in their game againstMexico.
