Activities that usually take place at the National Headquarters of Public Complaints Commission, Abuja were shifted to Imo State, the Eastern Heartland on Thursday 8th August, 2019 during the official visit of the number one Ombudsman in Nigeria in the person of Chief Commissioner Chille W. Igbawua.
Meanwhile, Orlu Road, Owerri Office of the Commission was electrified as s Chief Commissioner toured the newly renovated complex.
In his address, the Federal Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission presenting Imo State, Barr. Chief Willie Amadi considered the official visit the Honourable Chief Commissioner very significant assuring him of his readiness to present a comprehensive report on the status of the Commission. Hear him, “I crave your indulgence to present to you few Challenges which require your intervention. Sir, you would recall my presentation at the 3rd plenary of June, 2018 wherein I secured approval to take action on the deplorable condition of infrastructures and environment f the State Office and submit claims afterwards. Procurement of furniture Dr the office of the Honourable Federal Commissioner, landscaping and environmental upgrade of the office complex and wiring and installation of 5.5KVA Hybrid Inverter System. The projects have been executed except the Conference Hall expansion. May I appeal to the Chief Commissioner to kindly consider our claims and direct that our expenses be refunded to enable us do more.”
Chief Amadi further reminded the Ombudsman Boss of a classic complaint against FUTO involving one Mr. Asogwa Okechukwu which the Commission earlier made its recommendations asking for urgent implementation of the reports so as to bring justice to Mr. Asogwa. He also narrated that the Commission has been through its staff welfare policy supported workers in different capacities.
Responding, Chief Commissioner Chille W. Igbawua enumerated his commitment towards improving staffers’ standard of living revealing that he is currently negotiating with Finance Minister and National Assembly so as to rest every plight of the Commission. Chief Igbawua assured that fund used to renovate Imo Office Complex will be soon refunded describing Ombudsman as one of the most recognized and respected Institutions worldwide. He thanked the workers for making the Commission proud and urged them to keep discharging their duties diligently as better welfare packages are underway. The Ombudsman Boss announced that the Commission will soon re-train its staff for more proactive services. He thanked the Federal Commissioner representing Imo State for the intellectual contributions leading to the recent new policies and strategic planning in the Commission.

Those who claim to be members and leaders of ruling party are finding it difficult to feed, but in PDP, we are feeding well even when we are not in power” Anyanwu made this declaration on Wednesday while addressing members during the New Year Special Stakeholders meeting at party secretariate, Owerri. Accordingly, Anyanwu, in appreciation of the dedication of party members, stakeholders, ward, LGA and State Exco lavishly rewarded them with gift items valued over 150m tagged; “New Year Unity Gift” Adding further, Senator Anyanwu expressed delight that despite minor internal wrangling that almost derailed the vision of PDP few months ago, party members in the state remained dedicated and steadfast with the party. According to him, the trailer load of over 1000 bags of rice and other items to blend it were not to induce them, but to appreciate are them for working for the party in the state. He reiterated the need for all hands to be on deck towards building a viable and formidable political party in the state, adding that those stagging a gang up against PDP in Imo State and Nigeria do not have what it takes to dislodge the party in any contest. He called on party leaders, critical stakeholders and members across the 305 wards in the state not to be deterred or allow political shenanigans of unstable politicians to distract them from working for the party. In attendance include, the 27 LGA Chairmen, women leaders, youth leaders, State Working Committee, Southeast leaders, former LGA Chairmanship candidates, stakeholders, critical leaders and special citizens, among others.
