INTERNATIONAL TRAFFIC LIGHT DAY: IMO TRANSPORT COMMISSIONER LAUDS GOVERNOR UZODIMMA FOR MASSIVE INVESTMENT IN ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE*

The Honourable Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Emeka Okoronkwo, has extolled the Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, for his visionary leadership and massive investment in road infrastructure, which he said, has remarkably eased traffic flow across the state.
Speaking during an interview session with IBC Orient FM in commemoration of the 2025 International Traffic Light Day, marked annually on August 5th, Hon. Okoronkwo noted that Governor Uzodimma’s administration has redefined the transport landscape of Imo State through expansive road construction, rehabilitation, and the opening of new access roads.
The Honourable Commissioner emphasized that what Imolites now enjoy as seamless traffic movement is a direct result of the Governor’s deliberate and strategic infrastructural interventions, adding that the widened roads, improved drainage systems, and the creation of alternative routes have collectively decongested traffic hotspots, ensuring that both motorists and commuters experience smoother transit within the state.
He also called on Imolites to show appreciation for the Governor’s relentless efforts in repositioning the state’s transport infrastructure. “It is not by magic that traffic is now flowing easily in Imo; it is through the tireless work and commitment of His Excellency. We must acknowledge and support these efforts by obeying traffic rules and playing our part as responsible citizens,” the Commissioner added.
While advising transport operators and road users to always obey traffic lights and other road signs, he reiterated that compliance with traffic regulations is crucial to sustaining the current orderliness on Imo roads. He stressed that traffic lights are not mere installations but life-saving devices that ensure safety, discipline, and efficient road usage.
