The 2025 Owerri Catholic Archdiocesan Day and Odenigbo Lecture is quite spectacular because it has demonstrated gender sensitivity of the archdiocese.
The former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Imo State, Barr Miletus O Nlemedim stated this in an interview with our reporter on the occasion of the 2025 Owerri Catholic Archdiocesan Day and Odenigbo Lecture series held last Saturday at Obiri Odenigbo, Assumpta Cathedral, Owerri.
Barr Nlemedim who is the former Chairman, Parish Pastoral Council, Christ the King Parish, Agwa in Oguta Local Government Area revealed that the Odenigbo lecturer, Rev Sr Prof Evangeline Oparaocha (DMMM) is a renowned professor and Reverend Sister, stressing that this year’s event is the first of its kind since the inception of Odenigbo Lecture series.
He also noted that the theme of the lecture, “Nri na ahu ike madu n’oge ugbua” dwells on the issue of health of human beings which is paramount, adding that the lecturer delivered the lecture in a way that is clear and simple to the audience and everybody went away enriched and fulfilled.
The former Attorney General thanked the Owerri Archdiocese for establishing the yearly lecture and sustaining it, appreciating the Archbishop emeritus, His Grace, Most Rev Dr AJV Obinna for his initiative to establish the Odenigbo Lecture which has gone a long way in promoting Igbo language and the gospel, not only in Igbo land but all over the world.
Barr Nlemedim congratulated the Archdiocese on the special occasion which has impacted positively on humanity and society.
He prayed God to continue guiding and strengthening the Archbishop, His Grace, Most Rev. Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji and the Catholic Church all over the world.
Barr Nlemedim advised Igbo people to be proud of their language and culture and be their brothers’ keeper as well as keep the service of God beyond every other consideration.
