Ihedioha buries in – law in blaze of glory

The former governor of Imo State, His Excellency, The Rt How Emeka Ihedioha, CON, KSC, Omenkeahuruanya, yesterday, laid the remains of his brother in – law, Chief (Dr) Paddy Njoku, KSJI, to rest, in his country home, Okwunakuwa, Uvuru, Aboh Mbaise LGA, Imo State.

 

Njoku was a respected community leader, a devout Christian, devoted Catholic and and an administrator par excellence.

 

In his sermon during the requiem, Rev Fr Anthony Ibe, described the late Njoku as a man of honour, integrity and a visionary personality who lived and worked for the happiness of others even as development was his watchword.

 

Ihedioha, thanked all who came to pay his in -law his last respect.

 

Among dignitaries that attended the funeral were the military administrator of Delta State, His Excellency, retired Air Commodore Luke Achulor (and his wife); His Excellency, Chief Ikedi Ohakim; erstwhile deputy governor of Imo State, His Excellency, The Rt Hon Gerald Irona; the member representing Ahiazu, Ezinihitte Federal Constituency, The Rt Hon Emeka Chinedu; the president general of Ezurezu Mbaise, Surv. Joe Anosike; other past Ezurezu Mbaise PGs Dr Okey Aguwa and Sir Cyril Anyanwu.

 

Other very important personalities who were at the event included, the chairman of the central burial planning committee, Chief Johnny Chukwu; the chairman of Imo Council of Elders, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya; the chairman of Imo ADC, Prof James Okoroma; the ADC national woman leader, Hon Naomi Abel; the national vice chairman of ADC, Sir Bon Unachukwu; and the Imo State commissioner of lands, Chief Enyinnaya Onuegbu.

 

Also, the former chief of staff to then Governor Ihedioha, Chief Chris Okewulonu, etc.

 

The funeral mass was concelebrated by seven priests, including a representative of the bishop emeritus of Abuja, Cardinal John Onaiyekan.
