It was an ecstatic and electrifying atmosphere laden with conviviality, warmth, camaraderie and a remarkable display of culture and unity during the Ngor Okpala LGA August Meeting Grand Finale 2026, held at the Ngor Okpala Council Headquarters, Umuneke.

The colourful gathering brought together women from the 29 Autonomous Communities of Ngor Okpala LGA, political leaders, traditional rulers, community leaders and other distinguished personalities, in a celebration that beautifully blended tradition, togetherness, empowerment and community development.

Speaking at the event, the APC Senatorial Candidate for Owerri Zone, Prince Alex Mbata described the Ngor Okpala LGA August meeting Grand finale as one of the very best he has witnessed, encouraging the women of Ngor Okpala to keep the flag flying.

In her address, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu who conveyed the goodwill message of Imo First Lady Her Excellency Barr. Mrs Chioma Uzodimma, commended the women of Ngor Okpala for keeping the beautiful tradition alive as well as for their dedication to unity, peace, unity and progress.

Earlier while welcoming the guests, the Executive Chairman of Ngor Okpala LGA, Chief Mrs. Chika Ibekwe, expressed profound gratitude to God for the successful celebration and commended the women of Ngor Okpala for sustaining the rich cultural heritage and communal values associated with the annual August Meeting.

Chief Mrs. Ibekwe noted that the August Meeting remains a significant platform for women to reconnect with their roots, strengthen bonds of unity, celebrate their cultural heritage and contribute meaningfully to the progress of their families and communities. She encouraged the women to continue to support one another, promote peace and remain actively involved in initiatives that would advance the development of Ngor Okpala.

She also appreciated the Executive Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, for his leadership and commitment to the development of the State, particularly his policies and programmes which, according to her, have continued to create opportunities and positively impact women and families across Imo State.

The Executive Chairman equally acknowledged the invaluable support of the First Lady of Imo State, Her Excellency Barr. Dr. Chioma Uzodimma, for her sustained commitment to the welfare, empowerment and advancement of women and children, as well as her support for initiatives that promote the preservation of culture and community values.

The event attracted an impressive array of political leaders and dignitaries from across Owerri Zone and beyond. Among those present were Hon. Mrs. Patrick Ekeji Olaedo, the APC Candidate for Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency; Rt. Hon. Obinna Egu, Member representing Ngor Okpala State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly; Barr. Enyinna Onuegbu, Honourable Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Physical Planning and Dr. Mrs. Chioma Egu, Honourable Commissioner for Health.

Also in attendance were the former State Chairman of the Imo State APC, Chief Mercillinus Nlemigbo; Vice Chairman of Ngor Okpala LGA, Hon. Kizito Onuoha; Eze Fred Nwachukwu, Chairman, Owerri Zone Council of Traditional Rulers; Eze Obinna Eziakonwa, Chairman, Ngor Okpala Council of Traditional Rulers; and Engr. Blessing Ibekwe, President General of all President Generals in Ngor Okpala LGA.

Others included the Owerri Zonal Chairman of APC, Hon. Justus Ogu; Owerri Zonal Women Leader, Lady Tina Okere; Chief Val Okere, popularly known as Amadioha Ngor Okpala; Ngor Okpala APC Party Chairman, Hon. Dabirichi Akwa; former Imo State House of Assembly Member for Owerri North, Nze Ray Emeana; and former IMC Chairman and Sole Administrator of Ngor Okpala LGA, Chief Mayor Nweke.

The gathering also witnessed the presence of Hon. Lawrence Achinihu, Lady Ifeoma Nwanojuo, ASP Nkwocha, all Councillors, APC Ward Chairmen, Party Women Leaders, President Generals of the various communities, Community Women Leaders, representatives of the 29 Autonomous Communities and numerous other important dignitaries.

Highpoints of the celebration included the distribution of gas cylinders and wrappers to beneficiaries, as well as an impressive exhibition of agricultural products, including bunches of plantains in addition to dancing and drama segments among others.
