OFFICIAL COMMUNIQUÉ ON THE FORMAL PRESENTATION OF PRINCE EZENNAJIHU DENTON OKORIE OGBUEHI, ESQ., AS KING, PARAMOUNT RULER AND EZEIGWE XI OF EGBUOMA ANCIENT KINGDOM

Following the glorious transition of the late revered Monarch, HRM Eze Ezeanogbuomba Okorie Ogbuehi, Ezeigwe X of Egbuoma Ancient Kingdom, and the subsequent observance of the traditional rites and ceremonies attendant upon his transition, the Ogbuehi Royal Dynasty of Ubahudara, Egbuoma Ancient Kingdom, has formally announced and presented Prince Ezennajihu Denton Okorie Ogbuehi, Esq., Agu Udo, Ogbuehi Eze Ako L’Obieze, as the King, Paramount Ruler and Ezeigwe XI of Egbuoma Ancient Kingdom, in accordance with the established culture, customs and traditions of the Kingdom.

 

The historic presentation took place on Tuesday, 8 September 2026, at the Royal Palace of Egbuoma, in the presence of the Ezeigwe-In-Council, the Oluoha, the Okpara, the Ogbuehi, and the leadership of the Egbuoma Progressive Union, amongst other distinguished sons and daughters of Egbuoma Ancient Kingdom.

 

THE SUCCESSION AND THE UMUEZEGBU CONCLAVE

 

Whilst formally presenting the new Monarch to the great people of Egbuoma, the Regent, Prince Eugene Ezeanogbuomba Okorie Ogbuehi, explained that the succession to the ancient throne of Egbuoma is not determined through an electoral process, but through the time-honoured traditional institution of a conclave, known as the Umuezegbu Conclave.

 

According to the Regent, following the transition and completion of the prescribed rites for the late Monarch, the Ezeigwe Selection Conclave was duly convened and considered the succession in accordance with the customs, traditions and established line of succession of the Ogbuehi Royal Dynasty.

 

He disclosed that the Conclave comprised representatives drawn from the seven Houses of the Ogbuehi Royal Dynasty, who assembled in council, examined the succession and resolved that Prince Ezennajihu Denton Okorie Ogbuehi was not only within the established line of succession, but was also considered fit and proper to ascend the revered throne of Egbuoma Ancient Kingdom.

 

The Regent stated that, following due deliberation, the members of the Conclave unanimously selected and chose Prince Ezennajihu Denton Okorie Ogbuehi as the rightful successor to the throne and accordingly presented him to the people of Egbuoma Ancient Kingdom as Ezeigwe XI.

 

The presentation therefore represents the formal manifestation of the decision of the Ogbuehi Royal Dynasty and the traditional succession process through which the new Monarch has been called to assume the ancient and exalted responsibilities of the throne.

 

THE NEW MONARCH’S ADDRESS AND VISION

 

In his reaction to his selection and presentation, Ezeigwe XI, Prince Ezennajihu Denton Okorie Ogbuehi, Esq., expressed profound gratitude to the Ogbuehi Royal Dynasty, the traditional institutions and the people of Egbuoma Ancient Kingdom for finding him worthy of the great responsibility of ascending the throne.

 

The Monarch extended his profound gratitude to His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, Executive Governor of our dear Imo State for creating the enabling peaceful environment for the transition process. Ezeigwe Ezennajihu, appealed to all sons and daughters of Egbuoma to eschew rancour, division and bitterness, and to unite their energies and resources towards the advancement of the Kingdom. He emphasised the imperative of love for one another, peaceful coexistence, security, education and food security as central pillars of his reign.

 

On education, Ezeigwe XI declared his determination to ensure that every indigene of Egbuoma attains primary, secondary and tertiary education, irrespective of where such an indigene resides. He underscored the importance of education as a foundation for individual advancement, community development and the preservation of the future of the Kingdom.

 

On agriculture and food security, the Monarch pledged to promote agricultural development and pursue initiatives that would enable Egbuoma to attain sufficiency in food production, stressing that a secure and prosperous Kingdom must possess the capacity to provide for its own people.

 

The new Monarch further charged his subjects to remain steadfast, law-abiding and peaceful, and to conduct themselves in a manner worthy of the heritage and dignity of Egbuoma Ancient Kingdom.

 

He reaffirmed that, as Monarch, he would remain committed to the oath of allegiance to Egbuoma Ancient Kingdom and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and pledged to uphold the principles of fairness, equity and justice, assuring the people that he would be fair and do justice to one and all.

 

EGBUOMA PROGRESSIVE UNION WELCOMES THE NEW MONARCH

 

Also speaking at the occasion, the President-General of Egbuoma Ancient Kingdom, Mr. Cyril Uzokwe, expressed happiness over the emergence and formal presentation of Prince Ezennajihu Denton Okorie Ogbuehi, Esq., as the new Monarch.

 

Mr. Uzokwe observed that the emergence of the new King presented an opportunity for stability, unity and progressive development in Egbuoma, and expressed confidence that the new reign would contribute significantly to the advancement of the Kingdom.

 

He undertook to formally communicate the development to the wider Egbuoma community and to the entire body of the Egbuoma Progressive Union, while pledging the Union’s loyalty, cooperation and support to the new King.

 

Similarly, the Chairman of the Egbuoma Progressive Union, Home Branch, Apostle Okechukwu Mbanefo, expressed satisfaction with the peaceful and orderly manner in which the Royal Family conducted the process leading to the selection and presentation of the new Monarch.

 

Apostle Mbanefo commended the Royal Family for preserving peace and unity in the course of the succession process and pledged the support of the Home Branch to Ezeigwe XI as he assumes the responsibilities of the ancient throne.

 

A NEW CHAPTER FOR EGBUOMA ANCIENT KINGDOM

 

The formal presentation of Ezeigwe XI, Prince Ezennajihu Denton Okorie Ogbuehi, Esq., Agu Udo, Ogbuehi Eze Ako L’Obieze, marks the commencement of a new chapter in the continuing history, heritage and traditional institution of Egbuoma Ancient Kingdom.

 

The Ogbuehi Royal Dynasty calls upon all sons and daughters of Egbuoma, the traditional institutions, community organisations, stakeholders and friends of the Kingdom to uphold peace, unity, mutual respect and collective responsibility as the Kingdom moves forward under its new Monarch.

 

The new reign is expected to consolidate the cherished traditions of the ancestors while directing the collective energies of the people towards peace, justice, education, security, agricultural development, prosperity and the sustainable advancement of Egbuoma Ancient Kingdom.

 

Egbuoma Ancient Kingdom stands united in peace, dignity and progress.
