The political landscape of the Ohaji-Egbema/Oguta/Oru West Federal Constituency has entered another phase of political activity following the emergence of a mobilizer, youth emancipator and a former House of Representatives member, Hon. Uju Kingsley Chima, as the candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP) for the 2027 National Assembly election.

Kingsley Uju’s inclusion in the candidate information published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2027 House of Representatives election has placed his candidacy at the centre of fresh political conversations across the three-LGA constituency.

This is particularly significant given his previous tenure as the federal lawmaker representing Ohaji-Egbema, Oguta, and Oru West in the National Assembly.

Chima represented the constituency in the House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023, giving his return to the contest a dimension of political familiarity, especially among constituents who followed his earlier stint in the Green Chamber.

His emergence on the APP platform, therefore, marks a fresh chapter in his political journey and introduces another experienced contender into the unfolding 2027 race.

Across Ohaji-Egbema, Oguta, and Oru West, the development is expected to generate a fresh political activity as political parties, candidates, community stakeholders, and grassroots organisations intensify preparations ahead of the election.

Interestingly, Uju’s return also comes against the backdrop of broader political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with political actors repositioning and seeking platforms through which to pursue their ambitions.

Fondly known as “Omeudo,” Kingsley Uju is not entering the contest as a first-time contestant at the federal level. His previous experience in the National Assembly provides a record that constituents, community leaders, and political stakeholders can assess alongside those of other contestants.

His candidacy is consequently expected to bring issues such as legislative experience, constituency engagement, development priorities, and effective representation into sharper focus as the election approaches.

For the constituents, the immediate implication is that a former representative, who gave in his best and all in law making, oversight and constituency representation is back on the electoral field, and now, on a more formidable platform like the APP with men and women of proven integrity. He is Kingley Uju Chima.

According to Omeudo, his return is not about starting afresh, but about building on the projects, programmes and representation efforts associated with his previous tenure, while seeking to provide the people of Ohaji-Egbema, Oguta and Oru West with a strong voice in the Green Chamber.
