The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Imo State Chapter has raised a serious alarm that Owerri, the state capital is at the mercy of flood as the raining season sets in, except Gov Rochas Okorocha completes the ring road which the administration of the PDP started.
In a release by the Party signed by its Publicity Secretary, Chief Blyden Amajirionwu, PDP said the current flood hazard ravaging the city cannot abate since “Okorocha has abandoned the ring road project embarked upon by the last PDP administration”.
PDP went on to disclosed that “As we stated previously, the ring road project has inbuilt mechanism for arresting the flood problem in Owerri no matter the intensity of rainfall”.
The Party berated the Okorocha administration for demolishing personal buildings and business premises on the pretence that it was making cautions destructions against flooding.
“We challenge Governor Okorocha to show the people of Imo State a scientific study that shows that the only solution to the flood problem in Owerri is to indiscriminately pull down buildings and structures that house business outfits of families who have, as a result, lost their means of livelihood” PDP hinted.
It said Imo Economy is in comatose following the administration’s penchant for policies that scare away private investors from the state, adding that even funds from Agencies and Federal Government that should have been channeled to the state have stopped coming due to Okorocha’s uncooperative attitude and lack of intellectual creativity.
