Main points to remember in the prevention of food poisoning are 1. Healthy Animals – the rearing of healthy animals, the maintenance and supervision of hygienic slaughter houses and regular meat inspection are all important in the preventing food poisoning.
2. The supervision of food handlers- particularly those working in communal kitchens and food stores. People who are known typhoid carriers must be excluded from handling food at any stage. Anyone suffering from diarrhea and\or vomiting-however mild-should be encouraged to report the doctor and prevented from handling food. All personnel should be given proper facilities for hand washing after going to the lavatory and encouraged to make use of them. All cooks should be taught the importance of thorough cooking of food stuff likely to cause food poisoning e.g duck eggs meat dishes especially when it is reheated.
3. The Value of Refrigeration: Although cold does not destroy organism. It does render them inactive. Frozen chicken and other poultry must be sufficiently heated (cooked) to kill the salmonella that may be in the deepest parts.
4. Eliminalion of flies, rodents, etc those responsible for food stores or food preparation should know the danger of food contamination by flies, insects and rodents. All such creatures should be vigorously attacked and destroyed and their breeding grounds eliminated. Food of all kinds should be protected from them.
5. Reliable food – Buy meat, fish and other food from reliable sources: do not take risk by eating food that looks or smell doubtful although it must be remembered that food causing infection often look or smell and taste normal. It is wise to remember that pet food can be dangerous. Hands should be washed thoroughly after handling pet meat.
6. Special care when catering for infants and children it is important to be especially careful when catering for infants and young children or for any or more active. Gastroententis in infant is still a killer disease. Also when catering for groups of children and adolescents on holiday or at school, be certain to use a reliable source of water.
7. Care of Kitchen and Cooking utensils – it is important to keep the kitchen and cooking utensils neat and in good condition. If you are a house wife insist on a good standard of personal hygiene for yourself, your family and for those responsible for those responsible for preparing, conveying and serving food. Set your family a good example.
8. In the event of suspected food poisoning notify the doctor- be as helpful as possible by giving clear and correct information and keeping any food left over in case it is needed for bacterial examination.
Healing words
And he cast out the spirit with His words and healed all that were sick. That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet saying Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses.
Matthew 8: 16-17.
Jesus healed all that were sick because he loved them. This very scripture concerns you. He took your infirmities and bore your sicknesses. He healed you because He loved you. He didn’t have to wait for the doctor to help Him do it
