The retired commissioner of police of Ogun State Command, an elder statesman, and a worthy son of Awo-Omamma, Chief Barr Nicholas Daru Nkemdeme has condemned to entirety the corrupt practices of some INEC Officials in Oru East and Imo State at large by an alleged attempt to rig the gubernatorial and Houses of Assembly elections against the All Progressive Congress (APC) which he said scored an over whelming polls.
In an interview with Trumpeta Newspaper in his office on Tuesday over the outcome of the polls, Chief Nicholas Nkemdeme who narrated the nefarious activities of the Electoral officer (E.O) of Oru East with some of the ward collation officers in a tone of the PDP rigging in the area stated that since his participation in a voting process, had never seen nor witnessed such corrupt tendencies whereby an accused in now arresting the complainant with the view to satisfy the persons they went into hideous deals with either to falsify results or to destroy a winning party.
According to him, he stated that on the early morning of 11th April, 2015, the electoral officers and materials arrived at the different polling units before the top hours of 9.00am, especially at Awo-Omamma ward 1 where he agreed to have supervised. Surprisingly and convincingly, he attested that as at 6.00pm from the information gathered by APC party’s agents at the booths, the party was already leading ahead her closest opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) when they roused their eye brows in detesting the results in conspiracy with the Electoral Officer.
Instead of collating the results at ward collation centres as stipulated by law, the EO gave a reversed order that the results from polling units be brought to Omuma INEC headquarter under the heavy down pour which he stressed was not healthy for the results and the officers as well, whereas six of the ward collation officers had already left for Owerri, while the remaining four had submitted their original result sheets which prompted the state intervention.
“The Electoral Officer is so corrupt. There was a great conspiracy between the REC and INEC officials in Imo. Jega is a single individual and cannot be everywhere, just that his workers are so corrupt, especially that of Oru East. The six electoral officers in persons of Umelo Ikechukwu, Nwabichie Chioma Doris, Ejelonu Victor A, Eke Bonaventure, Okoli Michael and Henry Okpaleke of Awo ward 2, Awo ward 4, Amiri ward 1, Akuma, Omuma, Amagu respectively that ran away to Owerri while other four were still at Oru East should be arrested, investigated and prosecuted duly. But believe me that these political detractors have met their waterloo this time around. Whoever that declared the election inconclusive is a conspirator. INEC should go ahead and declare the result. APC won and no amount of rigging or delay can change that. Imo State is for Rochas Okorocha, sanctified by God and no human or party can hinder it from coming to pass”, Chief Nkemdeme concluded.
