Following the dissolution of the Transition Committee in the Local Government Areas of the State and the subsequent handing over to their various Director of Administration and General Services (DAGS), the State Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha has met with his key officers and the party leadership on the next line of action to take for administration convenience as well as to continue his developmental projects.
Information available to Trumpeta revealed that the Governor and his working team have agreed to appoint a 5-man Caretaker committee to man each of the various councils instead of sole administrators.
It was learnt that the leaders of the LGAs have been assigned to list out their choices for the Caretaker Committee job.
It would be recalled that governor Okorocha before the 2015 general elections announced that he will run his second missionary journey with those who delivered during the election.
Meanwhile, close source from Government House also disclosed that lobbyists have continued to hover round the Governors relatives for appointments adding that a good number of appointment seekers now worship at the Government House Chapel as well as splashing Greek gifts to Okorocha’s close men.
The source further revealed that seven persons have already been penciled down for appointment as SAs to the Governor which have been forwarded to the House of Assembly for screening.
Trumpeta learnt that Gov Okorocha may announce his nominees for the caretaker committee positions and other appointments as soon as he returns from official trip.
Despite mixed reactions that have been reigning in the Imo State owned Broadcasting corporation (IBC) over the recent dissolution of the Board Chairman and members, the state government said its attention has been drawn to publications in the newspapers credited to certain staff of IBC, demanding that the Director General of the corporation, Mrs Esther Obong Egbuna should vacate her office.
According to the statement signed by Chief Press Secretary to Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State , Mr Sam Onwuemeodo, “some of the staff members of the state owned Broadcasting corporation felt that the Director general was affected by the government’s dissolution of Boards, Commissions, agencies and other related bodies.
The state government wishes to state clearly that Mrs Egbuna was not appointed the chairman or member of the IBC Board that was dissolved. She is the Director General of the establishment and she is not in any way affected by any dissolution of the corporation’s Board”.
The statement further disclosed that the position of Mrs Esther Obong Egbuna as the DG of IBC is not under any doubt for whatsoever and was never affected by any dissolution urging workers of the outfit and the media to take note.
