President Muhammadu Buhari in his effort to consolidate his administration has further made two important appointments within his six months in office.
The appointments were made public by the Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal who briefed the press shortly after the Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja yesterday.
According to the Governor, Professor Mahmud Yakubu has been approved as the new chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) while Winifred Oye-Ita takes over as the new Federal Head of service.
Governor Tambuwal who said that the appointments take immediate effect explained that the presidency followed the relevant provisions of the 1999 constitution and in ultation with the council of state in making the appointments.consultation with the council of state in making the appointments.
He disclosed that the former acting chairman of (INEC), Amina Zakari has been deployed as the new commissioner of the commission to represent the North West. The Governor, also said that many other critical issues in the country were discussed even as he refrained from giving details of such issues.
