Confusion and loss of confidence are alleged to have hit the fold of Imo Labour Unions as members are beginning to point accusing fingers at their leaders, alleging that government may have infiltrated their fold through inducements.

Imo Trumpeta was informed that there is the fear that the Joint Negotiating Team led by Comrade Coleman Okpara may have been lately acting strange, as if speaking for another group other than the Labour Unions, who appointed them to be their negotiating point – men.

It was learnt that Imo Labour Unions were shocked that the demonstration meant to alert government of their anger over failure to implement earlier agreements reached by government was aborted midstream.

Most of them who trooped out wearing black upon black, were shocked when they arrived the venue only to be told that the exercise has been postponed owing to agreement reached with government.

Imo Trumpeta learnt that most Union members of various organizations that make up Nigeria Labour Congress in the State are not comfortable with the latest development.

Following this scenario, suspicion has set in, as those who do not participate in the actual negotiations are now confused as to whether what they are being fed are the proper position, stressing that since they are not physically present at these meetings those who took part in the negotiations could feed them with wrong information, in order to impress the government to the detriment of workers welfare.

Our source said that the negotiating team has been doing very well before now, adding that recently the workers are beginning to lose confidence in their leaders.

However, a Labour Union leader who spoke to Imo Trumpeta under anonymity swore that labour cannot betray their members, adding that the allegation of mutual suspicion and loss of confidence is not true.

The source hinted that what let to the postponement of the last demonstration was that the labour leaders considered the tension in the state necessitated by the crisis at the House of Assembly, where youths trooped into Owerri the state capital.

He said the fear was that miscreants and political party thugs may hijack the peaceful demonstration to cause mayhem.

Imo Trumpeta learnt thatImoState government blackmailed the labour with the allegation that security report indicated that the labour along members of the PDP wanted to demonstrate.

This allegation, it was learnt, cowed the labour who hurriedly urged its members to discard the purported demonstration.
