NAISS inaugurates convention committee

The supreme body that unites all students from Imo state called National Association of Imo State Students (NAISS), has on Friday 8th December 2017, inaugurated her National convention committee.

The event which was held at Nicholas Nwagwu 800 auditorium in Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, under the chairmanship of Dr. Harold Wilson Onumo, had the Deputy Governor of Imo state, Prince Eze Madumere as special guest of honour and Dr. Joe-Ken Nzerem delivered lecture on the topic that said youths as the architecture of their problem.

Members of the committee inaugurated are: Comr. Isinwa Destiny, from Federal Polytechnic Nekede as the National Convention Committee Chairman, Comr. Oledibe Constance from Federal Polytechnic Nekede (Vice Chairman), Comr. Ijioma Eberechukwu Favour from Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) (Secretary General).

Others are Comr. Opara Chima H. from Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education (Financial Secretary), Comr. Fortune Obieze of FUTO (Contact and mobilization 1), Comr. Alex Uzocha of Imo state Polytechnic (Contact and mobilization 2) Comr. Ebonine Goodness O. of Alvan Ikoku (Publicity Secretary), Prince Negus Omego Abyssinia from Imo State University (Treasurer) and Comr. Iyke Igweka of FECOLART (member).

The deputy governor, Prince Eze Madumere who was represented by the commissioner for youths and sports, Dr. Martin Ohiri expressed satisfaction over the association that has been in existence for years.

He assured that Imo state government is ready to partner with them to ensure proper protection of students’ welfare, adding that that the state government under the leadership of Governor Rochas Okorocha has students and education at heart.

Dr. Harold Wilson Onumo who was the chairman of the event charged the students to give adequate attention to their study and advised them to support the committee to enable smooth emergence of credible student’s leaders.

Chief Fidel Onyeneke who is the Special Adviser to Federal Polytechnic Nekede Rector on Media Matter, said NAISS was his most respected student body during his days in student unionism, maintaining that comfortable on the leader of the committee Comr. Isinwa Destiny is capable of providing credible results in all his assignments and urged the Imo state government to continue supporting NAISS in its programmes.

Prof. Protus Nathan Uzoma lauded the committee members for their tremendous achievements since their nomination and charged Imo state students to desist from being act of cheap political mobilization.

The Publisher of Community Watchdog Newspaper, Comr. Precious Nwadike described NAISS as his dearest union during his school days and assured to provide them all necessary supports.

Nwadike however cautioned the leadership of NAISS to shun the habit of concentrating total attention into state and National politics instead of championing the course of their fellow students.

The spiritual father of the day, Pastor Caleb Okeh of Christ Embasy who conducted the inauguration of the NAISS National Convention Committee, edited on all students to pray for the committee members and asked God to gram the committee unity and successful journey in their new assignment.

The outgoing NAISS president, Comr. Sabinus Nwachukwu in his address, noted that the newly inaugurated committee shall henceforth be in total control of NAISS pending when the next convention and election of new executive will be completed.

He prayed for God’s protection upon the committee and thanked the Deputy Governor of Imo state Prince Eze Madumere for his magnanimity extended to NAISS by sponsoring the NAISS 2017 Imo State Students Orientation Day arid Inauguration of NAISS National Convention Committee.

The event was also attended by the chairman of Next Generation Voices, Engr. Charles Ugochukwu, the Vice Chairman Mrs. Oluchi Okeh, Mr. Frank Nneji the CEO ABC Transport represented by Hon. Strategy, representative of various political parties including YPP, Imo students delegates from institutions outside Imo state including NAISS emeritus leaders.
