Charles Ahize Bows To Pressure Declares For Imo East Senate Seat

Ahead of the forthcoming 2019 general elections , a group under the aegis of ‘ Orlu Integrity  Group made up of respected leaders of Orlu zone ,Imo state has called on Chief Charles Ahize , a law graduate and billionaire auto entrepreneur , to contest for the  Imo East Senatorial seat .

Chief Innocent Onwuamaenyi, Vice Chancellor of Orlu Integrity group who spoke on behalf of the group urged Chief Ahize to run for the Imo East senatorial seat in the National Assembly, saying that the people had adopted him as their sole candidate for the senate in 2019.

The group, disclosed that they had been on his tale for over one year, persuading him to run in the 2019 Imo East Senate, claiming that his candidacy was bound to give Orlu a strong voice in the National Assembly and transform the zone for good.

However, it was celebration galore for all when Chief Charles Ahize, the Lagos based business mogul finally accepted the request and declared his intention to run for the Imo East Senatorial Seat under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the 2019 general elections.

Chief Ahize made the declaration at St. Silas Anglican Church, hall single handedly built by him in Orsu, Imo state before the chieftains and members of the PDP in Orlu zone.

Ahize said his decision was due to pressure from his people urging him to run for the senate and that he had no choice than to accept their request.

According to him, “For some time now, there has been so much pressure coming from different groups, communities, individuals and organizations that I should run for the senate. Since this is coming from my people, I have no choice than to accept the demand,” he said.

He thanked the people for having faith in him, saying that they could not have requested him to go and represent them at the senate if they did not believe in him.

He also urged the people to continue to support the Peoples Democratic Party. He described PDP as the only party with a national outlook, and the only party that could give Ndigbo (Igbo people) a voice in the country.

The event was attended by eminent sons and daughters of the state as well as prominent politicians, including Chief Douglas Acholonu, Hon. Jones Onyeriri, Chief Osita Nwaneri,Chief Johnbosco  Ogbu, Chief Batus Nwadike , Barr. Willie Amadi, Hon Mbadiwe, some members of the National Assemblies and top government functionaries.
