As the political parties end their primary elections, and with the submission of names of candidates now dominating the political air, Trumpeta took a deep look into the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA and the Peoples Democratic Party PDP with the view of unraveling how the two parties fared in its primaries.

Before the party primaries which ended this week, APGA had posed a hope for a lot of Imolites, following the array of personalities jostling for the various elective positions in the party, especially that of the Governorship slot.

But in the end, a lot of people are disappointed with APGA, as its primary ended leaving behind a lot of political casualties which included people like Chief Ikedi Ohakim, a former Governor in Imo State, Chief Okey Eze, Hon Uche Onyeagocha, Chief Frank Nneji (ABC Transport) Chief Charles Onyeagbako, Chief Humphrey Anumudu.

These gentlemen could be described as losers as they have been spending fortunes to keep APGA afloat in the last one year now, only for the Governorship ticket of the party to be grabbed by Senator Ifeanyi Araraume who has not spent up to a month in the party.

If others are said to be new entrants to APGA, that cannot be said of Okey Eze who has sunk millions of Naira inside APGA and yet could not pick the party’s ticket as it happened in 2015 when he lost it to Captain Emma Ihenacho.

While the likes of Anumudu, Onyeagocha, Nneji, Eze etc are still wandering around without political parties to actualize their 2019 election dreams, a former Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim was fast enough to move to ACCORD Party as its Governorship candidate.

Although Ohakim can only be said to be a loser having spent much on APGA and yet failed to pick its Governorship ticket, even though he will participate in the 2019 election as a Governorship candidate.

In the PDP, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, (Sam Daddy) who lost to the party’s Governorship candidate, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha is a major loser, as his followers had thought the Amaimo Ikeduru born former Council Chairman will clinch the ticket.

In the Okigwe Senatorial race, a former Secretary to Imo State Government, Chief Chris Okewulonu lost to Chief Ndubueze, making the former Commissioner for Works and Information in Imo State a big loser.

Elegant stallion and political Amazon, Senator Chris Anyanwu (Mrs) failed to defeat Hon Ezenwa Onyewuchi for the Owerri Senate Slot.

Anyanwu who was in the Senate for Eight years could not scale the hurdle this time, and is counted among the losers.

Hon ThankGod Ezeani, who ran for the Senatorial Seat for Orlu zone met his match in Hon Jones Onyereri who defeated the former member of House of Representatives who hails from Uzi in Ideato North LGA.

Another regrettable loser was Hon Henry Onwukwe (Apiti) whose ambition to move the Federal House was cut short by Hon Ikenna Elezieanya, who picked the ticket for Owerri Federal Constituency to replace Ezenwa Onyewuchi in 2019 if all things work out fine in the election proper.
