The 2010 winners of the Owelle mock – nation’s cup are at the verge of not qualifying for this year’s quarter final.

The Cattage Eagles lost their first game on the opening day of the competition by 3 – 0 to Mozambique, and needed to win their second game against Cameroon but failed to make good use of the chances that came their way on Tuesday the 11th of September.

The match which took place at the usual venue, Nwakutu City Sports Arena had the Cattage Eagles strengthen their team with the inclusion of Uche Nwaobodo (Shaka) who plays for Rangers FC in the Nigeria premier league along side other premier league players.

Although the water logged pitch did not allow the two teams play a free flowing football, the players of both sides however managed to put up a good context of matured football to the delight of the mammoth crowd that defied the rain to feast their eyes. Among the crowd were Coach Ramson Madu of Heartland FC and Coach Johnny Anyagwa of (The state festival team) as well as the team Manager of Imo United, Mr. Uchenna Osuji.

Speaking to Imo Trumpeta immediately after the game, Osuji expressed his satisfaction to the level of football being exhibited in the competition stating that he is more trilled by the level of organization that the competition has attained.

“I believe with this kind of competitions, taking place now and then, our youths will be able to stay out of youth’s restiveness, aside the entertainment, and exposures it gives to both the players and spectators” said Uchenna.
