The 2012 National Men’s Day celebration of No 44 Royce Road of Assemblies of God, Nigeria in Owerri District took place last Sunday with great success.

The occasion was graced by many dignitaries including the member representing Orlu State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Mike Ndubuaku, the Director of Procurement, IMHA, Hon Harry Ikechukwu and Hon Mike Ahumibe.

In his address, the Men’s president, Deacon Barr. Emma Oduagwu noted that the theme of the Men’s week “Men at Work” implies that having been empowered by the spirit and gloriously arisen, every man has received divine charge to work stressing that they do not have any other time to work for God than now.

Barr. Oduagwu enumerated the few achievements of the men to the ministries to include re-awakening the consciousness and commitment of the men, production of bye-laws of the men’s ministries, promotion of unity of purpose among men, dedication of the men to the things of God, procurement of the men’s bus and annual get-together for couples and widows among others.

He revealed that the men are also deeply committed to the church building project and expressed their resolve to continue to work tirelessly until the palatial House of God is dedicated next year.

Later in his sermon, Barr. Oduagwu urged Christians to shun sin, compromise and pride and advised them not to allow issues of life to take dominion over issues concerning the kingdom of God.

Inducting newly married couples into the men’s ministries, the District Superintendent of Owerri and the Executive Committee Member representing South East Zone of Assemblies of God, Rev. Mishael Ashiele charged the couples to always consider their first love, be exemplary to unbelievers and not to allow irrelevant things to cause divorce.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after receiving the kingdom Expansion Responsibility Award, a Humanitarian and Philanthropist, Evang. C.N.N Nwanebu cautioned youths to deviate from sexual immorality, pointing out that it has only momentary pleasure but can attract eternal damnation.
