The claimants of the State Executive Council of APC, Imo State chapter led by Mr Daniel Nwafor have been asked to take legal actions against the national chairman of the party, comrade Adams Oshiomole if they feel aggrieved about their sacking and constitution a caretaker committee led by Chief Marcon Nlemigbo.

Management of Trumpeta newspapers in reaction to an insignificant letter addressed to it, requested the Nwafor led Exco to approach the law courts for redress than issue threats to media houses in the state including Trumpeta.

A letter from the office of the state chairman of APC, Imo State signed by Daniel Nwafor and Ireagwu Obinna. C. State chairman and State secretary respectively, addressed to the publisher Trumpeta Newspaper, Owerri titled ILLEGAL RECOGNITION OF PRINCE MARCELLINUS NLEMIGBO & HIS COHORTS AS CARETAKER COMMITTEE MEMBERS OF IMO APC STATES.

The letter which appeared more like a threat to newspaper houses can best be described as misplaced aggression on the part of Nwafor and Co.

Even as the Nwafor led Exco which came into place since last year has not been able to recognize Trumpeta as a medium and granted it access to cover its function in the past, the management expresses reservation over the infantile disposition of the letter.

Trumpeta is worried why it is at this moment the so called party Exco recognizes the existence of the medium and wondered why it targeted the newspaper for the threat other than the National Chairman of the APC who dissolved them and set up a caretaker committee headed by Nlemigbo in the full glare of the public.

The newspaper is equally miffed why Nwafor and co have not shut down through court processes national media outfits that made public their dissolution and inauguration of the caretaker committee.

Trumpeta wishes to inform the Nwafor group that as an unbiased media outlet, the primary responsibility of the newspaper is to inform, educate and enlighten the readers.

And news related to politics deserves mention, hence it cannot shy away from affairs of Imo State no matter whose Ox is grieved.

The newspaper requests the Nwafor led Exco to secure the services of a thoroughbred counsel and experts in media practice to be taught that a medium carrying reported speech has not committed any offence and not liable to be sued for any reason.

A journalist who covered the dissolution of the Nwafor led Exco and inauguration of the Nlemigbo CTC committee is performing his function. Therefore making it public is no offence before the law.

Trumpeta recalls that Oshiomole for reasons best known to the party sacked the Nwafor led State Exco and put in place Nlemigbo.

Nwafor and Co are urged to use legal means to call Oshiomole and national APC to order if they think otherwise than send worthless letters to media houses.
