The much hyped, celebrated Skills Acquisition Centers built across the 3 geopolitical zones of the State by former Imo first lady, Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha have been overtaken by weeds and reptiles since it were left unused.

Okorocha’s wife had constructed the centers early at the commencement of her husband’s 2nd tenure in office, with the view to training persons from different specialties in skills.

It would be recalled that at the official opening of the places at Owerri, Okigwe and Orlu zones respectively, it was a mini lunching.

Appointees of the Rescue Mission and other loyalists to the then Imo first family donated handsomely for the stability and continuation of the program which they considered relevant.

Suffice it to say that even before the exit of Rochas Okorocha’s administration, those places were left fallow with neither a teacher nor a single student sighted at any of the centers.

Trumpeta spot investigation revealed that rather than seeing humans at these centers, weeds and different creatures, reptiles have turned there a habitat.

Further recalling on Nneoma Okorocha’s keynote address during the opening ceremony, she reiterated that the construction of the centers would continue to blossom and produce graduates in different skills programs, especially Imo indigenes.

Whereas she called for supports then, which rained millions of naira that almost led some of their appointees into unwanton monetary exhibitions, the present condition of the skills acquisition centers remain a huge question awaiting answers from the appropriate quarters.

It was also gathered that since after the last graduands 2 years ago, no single soul had openly come out to say he or she was a product of ‘Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha’s’ free skills acquisition center program.

This goes further to align with the suspicion that the said centers may have fallen into the same pit that swallowed others.
