LGA ELECTIONS; CREATION OF ISIEC WARDS BEGINS …As Commission Releases Guidelines

As part of the programs to hold LGA elections in Imo state, the state through the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission, ISIEC has released a program for confirmation and creation.

According to a schedule signed by the Chairman, Barr Julius Onyenucheya,

“Pursuant to section 9(1)(4) of the IMO State Independent Electoral Commission Law no 4 of 2000(as amended); section 18(4) of the IMO state Local Government Administration Law no 15(as amended) and All other powers connected thereto, NOTICE is hereby given that the IMO state Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) shall commence Review of the delineation of every Local Government Area in IMO State into Electoral wards for the purposes of the forth coming Local Government Election.

All existing ISIEC Wards (as at 2004) and Communities that wish to be so delineated as ISIEC Electoral Wards must satisfy with proof the under listed conditions or be delisted :Evidence of Emerging Communities, Minimum population of 5,000, Minimum registered voters of 3,000, Cultural and ancestral affinity, Presence of a public school or any other public institution, Evidence  of religious worship centres, Evidence of a functional market, Presence of existing minimum of five pooling units.

Submission of applications and relevant documents begins from Monday, 29th July 2019 and ends on Friday, 2nd August, 2019 while consideration and review exercise commences on Monday, 5th August, 2019 till Friday 23rd August, 2019.

All applications with relevant documents should be addressed to the Chairman, Imo state Independent Electoral Commission, Owerri and submitted to the Electoral Officer, ISIEC Office in each of the Local Government Areas in Imo state where the existing or proposed ward situates.
