Respondent lawyers at the ongoing guber election tribunal in Imo State yesterday during the sitting insisted that since Action Alliance party (AA) has withdrawn its case, Uche Nwosu is therefore not worthy to continue in the matter.

The lawyers submitted that what the witnesses testifying in favour of Uche Nwosu are claiming has nothing to do with the tribunal pointing out that the “Action Alliance case file is in appeal court along Port Harcourt road, Owerri and not at the tribunal sitting along Orlu road” the lawyers argued.

Emeka Ihedioha’s lawyers during the sitting maintained that AA party has no case again in the tribunal.

The star witnesses of Uche Nwosu who appeared at the tribunal on Monday were drilled with questions on the witness box during the cross examination on Monday 5th of August 2019.

Kenneth Emelu, Nkiru Oluehi, Dr Cyril Okafor, Dr Okey Anukwem, Hon Bar Ijeoma Igboanusi and others  however stood firmly for Uche Nwosu at the tribunal during the cross examination on Monday.

Dr Okey Anukwem the Local Government collection agent of Ihitte Uboma disagreed with the Senior Advocate standing for Governor Emeka Ihedioha at the tribunal.

Anukwem said AA is still part of the matter because Uche Nwosu remains the party’s guber flagbearer. He submitted that the appeal court still has the file on this issue. He insisted that AA cannot withdraw since Uche Nwosu is the party’s candidate.

Nkiru Oluchi who said she came from Alike Okwelle in Onuimo adopted her exhibits as the LGA agent said she worked for Uche Nwosu and Action Alliance. During the cross examination which lasted over 25 minutes, Oluchi looked to be under pressure as she seen sweating.

Oluchi meanwhile pointed out that there was confusion in some of the results of the polling booths because there was crisis at the time of the election.

She told the tribunal that she refused to sign some of the results.

It was submitted by the respondent lawyer that a total vote 12,850 but the figure represented at the table was 1, 850.

This observation brought more confusion and weakened the witness of Uche Nwosu in her attempt to answer the question again.

It was also observed by the respondent lawyers that Uche Nwosu’s name did not appear in some of the papers and results presented. But Hon Bar Ijeoma Igboanusi hinted that it is not necessary that his name must be in all the pages since he is standing as the flag bearer of the party.
