GOV. OKOROCHA LAYS FOUNDATION OF PRINCESS HOTEL OKIGWE

The Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha accompanied by the Deputy Governor, Sir Jude Agbaso, and the Speaker Imo House of Assembly (IMHA) Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu and their entourage last recently laid the foundation stone of Princess Hotel Okigwe.

The Governor during his speech, recalled that Okigwe has for a long time been mocked as it was believed by everyone that Okigwe can no longer develop, a adding that the aged long belief have been broken as his administration has refused to believe in a song composed for the underdevelopment of Okigwe and Orlu by introducing a Five Star Hotel which promised will be completed before the end of June 2014, as 40% payment demanded by the contractor has been paid.

He however added that that Okigwe will soon experience the dividend of democracy as plans are on the way to introduce a Stadium, a Medical Centre, a Shopping, a Cultural Center, some street lights will be installed along Okigwe express road, including keke and taxis, as he promised his administration will achieve all this before he tenure expires, and also urged the Mayor of Okigwe Engr. Ifeanyi Ukachukwu to ensure that Okigwe is kept clean at all time.

Speaking earlier, the Hon. Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, in Imo State Barrister Lady Ugochi Nnanna Okoro commended the efforts of the Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha in re-positioning the Tourism Sector of the state adding that tourism is the fastest growing industry in the world today, as economic growth has shifted to hospitality industry, stating that the five star hotel (Princess Hotel) with the state of the art equipment will boost the development of Okigwe zone and of the State.

Speaking on behalf of Ndi-Ezes, Eze Dr Oliver Ohanweh commended the state government for citing a five star hotel in Okigwe and also placing Okigwe at the top of his Rescue Mission Agenda.

Present at the occasion were; Alex Mbakwe, Hon. Chief Omegara, Eze Mathew (Chairman , Okigwe Council of Ndi Eze) Onweni, Eze Onyenakeya , Engr. Ifeanyi Ukachukwu, and the host of others.
