The increasing rate of kidnap cases has again caught up with a former member of the National Assembly and member who represented Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta and Oru West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Chief Tony Eze Okere was two days ago kidnapped by unknown persons.
Chief Okere who served the immediate past administration as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Niger Delta Affairs was picked up in his Owerri home within the evening hours on the fateful day.
According to reports, his abductors have opened up discussions on the ransome to be paid and our correspondent gathered that after several phone negotiations, the kidnappers are asking for N3m while Okere’s sympathizers are willing to pay N1m for his release.
The Obiakpu – Egbema born politician is said to be alive and has spoken to his family members as well as sympathizers indicating that he is in a terrible condition and the efforts being made to get him released.
It would be recalled that a former Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Chief Goddy Dikeocha was some months ago kidnapped and yet to be released by his abductors.
