SPEAKER UWAJUMOGU CALLS FR IMMORTALIZATION OF GOOD LEADERS

The Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, the Rt. Hon. Chief Benjamin Uwajumogu has called for the immortalization of Political Leaders who contributed meaningfully to the socio-economic and political development of Nigeria.
He stated that such leaders must be those who selflessly served ‘the country in offering political Independence in 1960, those who fought for the restoration of democracy n the country in 1999, those who provided democracy dividends to the people and finally those who did not selfishly enrich themselves while occupying political positions
Speaker Uwajumogu stated this while unveiling HOLE 18 in honour of the late political leader and galvanizer in the state, Chief (Dr) R. B. K. Okafor at the Oguta Lake Golf Course on Saturday the 21st of April 2012.
Hear him, “Leadership is all about service to humanity. Effective and Efficient leadership is not selfish. It is always people Oriented. We are all gathered here because of on man ho contributed to the creation of old Imo State from the old East central states. RBK Okafor was visionary politician, a parliamentarian of the first Republic and Federal Minister of Trade. He was also the Chairman o Nigeria Peoples Party (NPP) which produced Dee Sam Mbakwe as governor in 1979. No doubt, RBK made his mark in history and that is why we are honouring and immortalizing him with HOLE 18”. The ebullient Speaker concluded.

Earlier before unveiling of HOLE 18 was the ceremonial event which was performed by Prince Eze Madumere, the Chief of Staff to the Executive Governor of Imo State.  Later in an interview, Prince Eze Madumere described Lake Golf course an environment blessed so much
endowments and called on .people to join the golf club.  We described Chief (Dr). ReK Okafor as a great man who assisted the legendary Dee Sam Mbakwe in developing the old Imo State hears the Chief of Staff, “When you leave a good legacy, the people will know, and at the appointed time, you will be celebrated. Therefore I am not surprise that RBK Okafor is being remembered today”.
In his welcome Address, the Captain of Oguta Lake Golf club, Enge. Albert Ariche described Oguta Lake Golf Course as a place with wonderful opportunities and therefore cafled on government to renovate the place by adding more facilities and naming it after the great legend, Chief (Dr) R. B. K. Okafor.
