As the world intensifies effort towards the fight against the dreaded coronavirus pandemic, a notable body under the auspices of ‘Senator Hope Uzodinma Diaspora Forum’, SHUDF, has embarked on massive sensitization across the twenty-seven Local Government Areas in Imo State.
This was in continuation to their support towards the good governance initiative of the State government, especially as the struggle in combating the Covid-19 pandemic becomes paramount.
The sensitization tour was in collaboration with ‘Onuoma Welfare Foundation’, targeted at reaching to every nook and cranny in Imo State.
Part of the exercise was ensuring the equitable distribution of Governor Hope Uzodinma’s Covid-19 largesse to Imo people, with particular interest to the vulnerable ones.
Fielding questions from newsmen shortly after their visit to communities in Oru East and West, the team leader who doubles as the Global Coordinator of SHUDF, Chief Ken Onuoma commended the governor for his doggedness in ensuring that the virus doesn’t show it’s ugly face in the State.
Against the backdrop of this development, he opined that Senator Hope Uzodinma Diaspora Forum, chose not only to sensitize the people, but also shared preventive items like highly concentrated cartons of soap, hand sanitizer, among others worth millions of naira.
Not only that the traditional leaders and ward councilors were met and interacted with, the Global Coordinator used the opportunity in further educating the rural dwellers on the need in observing good personal hygiene.
He charged them on regular washing of hands with soap, application of medically approved sanitizer, observing the social distancing rule and other unavoidable good health and hygiene practices.
While maintaining that Covid-19 is real, Chief Onuoma stated that if the people can strictly adhere to health and government advises, there would be every possibility of faulting Melinda’s assertion which states that in no distant time, dead bodies would litter on the streets of Africa as a case of coronavirus.
Speaking further, Onuoma called on appointees of the State government to disburse all the relief materials to the exact people (vulnerable people) it was meant for.
He warned never to subchange the downtrodden in the cause of sharing the coronavirus palliatives, as it is no way meant for those that can afford the items.
The sensitization team also visited churches, and urged them to live up to expectations, and never to be seen as flaunting government directives.
In furtherance, he reminded the public on the need to always make suggestions and complaints in a more courteous manner, through the established channels or committees set up by Uzodinma, should there be any coronavirus related issue in the State, stressing that prevention is better than cure.
Meanwhile, the Oru East born technocrat once more lauded the State government for all the achievements attained so far which are people oriented.
While calling on Imolites at home and in  diaspora to rally round the government and support all her good work for the overall interest of Ndi Imo, Chief Onuoma reassured the Group’s resilience in supporting Uzodinma’s led administration, especially in this trial period caused by the virus.
He enjoined all hands to be on deck, reminding them that any good or investment made in the State still revolves around each family in over 630 autonomous communities in Imo.
