The people of Egbelu Obube in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State through their Town Union have risen stoutly in condemnation of the attempted murder of one of their illustrious and generous sons by people described as criminal elements, saying they must be meant to face the consequences of their action.  In an advertorial signed by a full complement of officers of Egbelu Obube Town Union led by the PG Mr. Patrick Umunnakwe, the community, “viewed, reviewed and analysed critically and with great concern the attack, kidnap, abduction, torture and the failed attempt to murder the Traditional Prime Minister of our community, Okenze George Nkwoji by murder suspects and their supporters in Umuchoko Village in Egbelu Obube”

“Okenze Dr. George Nkwoji is an illustrious son of Egbelu Obube community who has used his wealth and position to touch the lives of many people in the community positively including the lives of those who attempted to kill him”.

Stressing on the need to nip the conduct of the criminal elements in the bud, the statement added, “no one is safe in the community including the lives of well-to-do sons and daughters. It is Okenze Dr. George Nkwoji today, it may be any other tomorrow if this ugly trend is not checked on time.

The Town Union therefore craved the indulgence of all Egbelu Obube natives to speak with one voice, saying that the perpetrators of this act must be brought to book to face the full weight of the law. “They must feel and taste the consequences of their unholy action so that it will serve as a bitter lesson to those involved in this gory action and deterrence to others who might like to foment trouble in the nearest future”.

The Union used the opportunity to appreciate the involvement of some well-meaning individuals in the community for their peace intervention. It will be recalled that on the 11th of February about 7.pm a group of hoodlums alleged to be murder suspects attacked the home of Okenze Nkwoji, smashed the windows of his house and glasses of his car and later abducted him with intent to murder him.
