The fanning of inferno by some persons in Lorji Autonomous Community, Aboh Mbaise LGA of Imo State should be discarded and treated as a no issue agenda. These were the words of Honourable Steve Ezenwa Obasi, PG Lorji Autonomous Community, Aboh Mbaise LGA Imo State, when cornered by our reporter who filed in this report.

According to him, the people of Lorji Autonomous Community on the 26th day of December 2020 elected, Chief Mike Ahamba SAN, (Ugo Lorji) as their Regent and a new executive of Lorji Development Association (LDA), the apex decision making body of the community. After their oath of office, the team swung into action on their assigned agenda of drafting a new LDA and Ezeship Constitutions for the community which aimed at climaxing with selection of a new Eze to take the stead of late Eze, Sir (Major) J. N Unegbu Orji ii of Lorji.

Ndi Lorji unanimously approved the two constitutions in their General Assembly meeting of LDA Federated held on 16th April, 2022. On the 26th of June a General Assembly emergency meeting was held and one of the resolutions was that reputable and interested indigenes of the community for the Ezeship stool to send in their applications to the President General, in that regard. According to him, before this declaration an emerging fraternity in the community, acting under the guise of holding power at the local government council were congregating and bragging of using their position and closeness to the governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, in their language to plug the Ezeship stool from the top. This clandestine effort was rebuffed by Ndi Lorji in it’s entirety and our findings exonerated the people’s governor of a hand in the evil plan. Worse still, the peace loving governor Senator Hope Uzodinma,  had no knowledge of this evil arrangement, but was only being quoted by these miscreants to further assert their hold to power. Within this period, they had appointed three (3) persons of what they tagged government PG to enable them perfect their plan of throwing the Community into unnecessary chaos of Ezeship tussle, thereby making it look as if the Community is in a face-off with the governor and government of Imo State, who has publicly declared on several occasions of having no hand in the running of Community Town Unions.

This group being led by the erstwhile IMC Chairman of Aboh Mbaise LGA, Mr. Emma Njoku seeing that their efforts has been frustrated by the people of Lorji, resorted to maligning constituted authorities in the community and creating a picture of parallel leadership in Lorji Autonomous Community. In a recent outburst which he documented on one of the community’s WhatsApp platform, Mr. Emma Njoku, who claimed to be a lawyer, who ought to educate the less privileged amongst his group of the dare implication of impostoring on critical state matters was making bold to claim that he only recognized the leadership he instituted as an LGA IMC Chairman, that the decision of the entire Community on the 26th of December, 2020 does not matter to him. Ndi Lorji are still watching, but calling on the people’s governor and related leaderships in the state to call the former IMC Chairman and his group to order, from instigating and formenting violence and crisis in the community, as he is assigning to himself powers too much for an ordinary citizen.
