The management and staff of First Mahi FC has Lauded the outstanding performance of the Imo state female football team at the 2022 National Sports Festival NSF, were they peeped Lagos State 1-0 to win gold in the female football category.

Lucky Mary’s 87th minute goal secured the gold medals for the Imo female team who had humbled Delta state 3-0 in the semi final on their way to triumphant finish.

Reacting to the results on Wednesday on behalf of First Mahi FC Babes, the clubs Vice President, Prince Chidiebere Eze Onuoha praised the team’s spirited effort and patriotic performance during their games.

He noted that winning gold at the NSF were states like Lagos, Delta (host State) and Edo among others were deemed as favourites showed that Imo is immensely blessed with female football talents which necessitated him to float a female football side with view of helping the young girls realize their dreams.

Prince Onuoha who also praised the team officials as well as the staff of Imo state Sports Commission for the medals they are gathering at Asaba however called on the State Government to put more effort on empowering the youths including the young girls through sports.

He maintained that sports remains the highest employer of the youths both educated and non educated expressing optimism that if well utilized that it will not only help reduce unemployment in the state but also ameliorate the level of social vices and I security.
