It will not be far from the truth, to say that the People Democratic Party, PDP might be heading into extinction, especially in the South East following the exodus of most of its founding members as the aftermath of the last Party Primaries.
The most recent member that resigned from the embattled party is the Disciplinary Committee Chairman of Ideato South Chapter of the People Democratic Party, PDP, Hon Stanley Okwara Esq from Isiekenesi Ward 2.
In his resignation letter to the Party through his Ward Chairman. Hon Stanley Okwara a renowned selfless community and politicial leader who treasures collective interest than personal political interest, stated categorically clear that his major ground is the injustice and marginalization the people of South East has suffered in party and its successive leaderships.
The learned legal luminary and educationist cited the last party presidential primary, where the PDP as party abandoned its zoning system philosophy and treated the South East like a nonentity by denying them the presidential ticket of the party. In his letter which reads in part “The injustice in the party against the South East which has culminated in Nigerians losing confidence because of the choice of its presidential flag bearer in 2023 election which informs my decision to leave the party”.
However, he thanked the party for the opportunity to serve in different capacities while his membership with the PDP lasted.
