ImoStateSports/South-East YSFONambassador, Prince E.O Ogbonna has re-affirmed his commitment towards the football talent hunt programme he started last year. The Sports ambassador made this assertion during a press briefing at his Obinze home in Owerri West LGA. According to the Obinze born philanthropist, the programme did not and will not at any time come to an end because his desire for the youths of our land is something that cannot be exhausted. The talent hunt programme for footballers is one out of many special programmes my organization has mapped out for our youths especially here in Imo State to help keep them off youths’ restiveness.

I have also scheduled a system with my European partners to also help these youths(players) start academic programmes while playing football because some of them that may not be able to make it in football can easily fall back on their certificates. “As I speak with you, we have concluded the papers of about 8 players who will be travelling toSwitzerlandby next month to join their clubs and also start academic studies,” Ambassador Ogbonna narrated. In a related development, the onetime Greater- Tomorrow player who started his footballing career at Owerri township stadium along Tetlow road, with the likes of Mobi Oparaku, Kanu Nwankwo, Raymond Ebede to mention but a few, expressed his displeasure over the poor condition of the pitch.

He therefore promised to do something in making sure that the condition of the pitch at Old Stadium is improved as soon as the commissioner for sports, Hon Kenneth Emelu gives his approval.

To continue the relationship and love that binds the good people of Owerri Nch-Ise and the ambassador, he made a donation of 10 balls to the Owerri Unity Cup Football Competition through the office of Youths Sorts Federation of Nigeria (YSFON), to help the young talents in realizing their soccer dreams.

On a final note, Prince Ogbonna also promised to extend his hands of fellowship to an Imo athlete who has been injured and couldn’t participate at the just concluded sports festival, expressing his sympathy for such indigent persons in the society who need care and help to also enjoy their life.

He also revealed that his office will always work with the Sports Commissioner and his ministry to help the youths of Imo.
