Imo PDP Sets Up Committee To Look Into Party’s Solution

The Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Imo State has set up a Committee to Review the party’s outings in the last general election, including the November 11, 2023 Imo Governorship polls.

The Committee is headed by a former State Secretary of the Party, Chief Damian Ezeagu as Chairman, with former Interim Management Chairman, Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA, Hon Mrs Getrude Iroeme as Secretary.

Inaugurating the Committee during a Stakeholders meeting held at Imo PDP State Secretariat, Okigwe road, Owerri, the State Chairman, Chief Charles Ugwu challenged the Committee to look deep into what were the reasons the party performed poorly in the elections, a profere solutions to avoid such situation in future.

The terms of reference include why Imo PDP performed poorly in the last Imo Governorship election, as it was the worst outing by the party since 1999 Imo Governorship elections.

Responding on behalf of the Committee, the chairman, Chief Damian Ezeagu assured that the Committee will carry out the assignment diligently, and look into various causes with no holds barred focus.

During the meeting, the Party realized on the spot, over Fourty Million Naira (N40m) for the running of the Party in the State.

A former Governor of Imo State, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha said the Party threw the donation open so that all members of Imo PDP will be partakers in funding the Party, instead of one person laying claim to ownership of the Party.

“One person can raise this fund for the Party. But we don’t want it that way so that one person will not come up tomorrow to claim ownership of Imo PDP” Ihedioha said.

Chief Charles Ugwu said that the funds raised was for paying the Party’s  office rent, staff salaries, and other running costs of Imo  PDP.

Present were Imo PDP Chieftains raging from former Governors, Senators, members of National and State Assemblies, including other top ranking officers of the Party, from the LGAs, State, Southeast Zone and National.
