JOINT PRESS STATEMENT
APC SOUTH EAST LEADERSHIP ENDORSES PROGRESSIVE GOVERNORS’ FORUM POSITION TO SUPPORT ALL APC CANDIDATES IN THE 2027 ELECTIONS
– CONDEMNS WIKE’S INSULTS AGAINST HIGH-PERFORMING GOVERNORS
– REJECT THE RAINBOW (CHAMELEON) COALITION IN THE SOUTH EAST.

We, the undersigned leaders of the All Progressives Congress in the South East geopolitical zone, comprising the National Vice Chairman (South East) and the State Chairmen of the APC in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States, issue this joint statement to firmly and unequivocally endorse the clear, progressive and strategic position of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF).
The Leadership of the Progressive Governors’ Forum has rightly insisted on unwavering support for all APC candidates at every level, beginning from the Presidency, Senate, House of Representatives, Governors and State Houses of Assembly in the 2027 elections.
This position is not mere internal party housekeeping; it is a deliberate and necessary strategy aimed at securing the comprehensive victory of all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections. We fully align with this position and call on every organ, leader and member of our great party to embrace and implement it without reservation.
It is in the light of this patriotic and forward-looking stance that we find the recent unprovoked, undignified and reckless attacks by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, on the Progressive Governors’ Forum most unfortunate, reprehensible and completely unacceptable.
Wike’s insults are directed at Progressive Governors who have performed so well in their respective states — governors who delivered over twenty-five percent of the votes for Mr. President in their states and have delivered measurable development, improved infrastructure, enhanced security and raised the quality of governance for their people.
Progressive Governors are not abstract politicians; they are performing leaders whose records speak for themselves. To insult them is to insult the very progress and good governance that the APC represents. The Progressive Governors are not the Rivers State that Wike controlled and treated as his personal pocket. They are independent, elected leaders of their states who cannot be blackmailed by a despicable Wike.
We align ourselves fully with the APC stakeholders and groups that have rightly described Wike’s conduct as that of a rabid dog — aggressive, unrestrained and destructive of the party structures that should command his loyalty.
The same Wike who could not deliver his G5 allies in Enugu, Abia and Benue States, but failed woefully, is shameless for insulting Progressive Governors. It is on record that Wike’s presentation of sloppy result sheets was strong evidence that almost cost the President’s victory in court.
It is more troubling that Wike’s growing tendency to insult, diminish and plot to remove sitting Progressive Governors in 2027 is increasing each day while he simultaneously projects himself, in his own mind, as a co-president within an APC Presidency. This delusional assumption of co-equal authority is an insult to the office of the President, to the collective will of the party, and to every elected APC Governor who carries a genuine mandate of his own. No Minister has the right to arrogate to himself such a status, as if the Progressive Governors exist at his pleasure.
We therefore call on Nyesom Wike to immediately desist from further insults against the Progressive Governors’ Forum. He must withdraw the unprovoked attacks, show due respect to performing governors, and return to the path of party discipline, mutual respect and collective responsibility.
The APC is bigger than any individual. The Progressive Governors’ Forum represents the authentic voice of the party’s executive leadership across the states. Their position on the democratic election of all APC candidates in 2027 is the correct, progressive and unifying path.
We in the South East stand solidly with all Progressive Governors and candidates of our party at all levels in the forthcoming 2027 elections. We will continue to defend the integrity of our party, reject any form of sabotage under a rainbow coalition, as we collectively support candidates of our party from Mr. President to the State Houses of Assembly so that the party can achieve total victory in 2027.
Enough is enough. Wike, the rabid dog, should restrict his rainbow (chameleon) coalition to Rivers State and must not attempt to encroach into any South East State.
