Worried at the slow pace of development in the ancient Lagwa town occasioned by tussle for leadership, the youths under the aegis of “Lagwa Reality Youth Organization (LARO)” has seized power from the warring factions.
Investigation by Imo Trumpeta newspaper revealed that the factionalization of the town is occasioned by the struggle for the soul of the community by Chief P.C.J Nnoromele and Mr. Mathew Osuagwu (aka Black), both of who are claiming leadership of the President General.
The investigation further has it that both Chief Nnoromele and Mr. Osuagwu have respectively had their turn as President General of Lagwa Development Union.
According to our source, Lagwa which is divided into three blocks has had Chief Nnoromele and Mr. Osuagwu as President Generals respectively from Umuoshi, Umuokere, Eziudo and Umunoke axis of the town.
The story further has it that constitutionally; it is the turn of Okwuato, Obo, or Umuabazu to produce the next President General.
Although Imo Trumpeta gathered on good authority that Lagwa abroadians have concluded plans to visit during the Easter festivities with the sole aim of raising and installing a new president general for the town, the youths has threatened to resist any attempt to foist anybody from Umuoshi, Umuokere, Eziudo or Umunoke on them.
It is worthy to note that the Lagwa Reality youth organization which seized power from the warring factions have succeeded in undertaking some developmental projects in the communities.
These include routine clean up exercise at Nkwor Lagwa market, constant surveillance against miscreants at community secondary school Lagwa, repair of one of the abandoned solar energy bore hole in the town among many others.
The youths therefore appealed to everybody in the town including their traditional Ruler Eze Cosmas Onyeneke to remain calm pending the emergence of a new President General in the town.
