The people of Amakahia Ubi Autonomous Community in Owerri West LGA are yet to recover from the palpable fear which gripped the community when a contractor,, Chukuwdi Osuoha was abducted close to his compound on Sunday this week.
Numbering about five, the kidnappers had intended to pick their victim at the premises of Catholic Holy Cross Parish, Ndegwu,, the venue for a thanksgiving service for the elevation of an indigene to the rank of a brigadier. They were unable to carry out the barbaric act at the church premises because of the presence of soldiers who accompanied their big boss to the church service.
The kidnappers re-strategized and laid ambush for their victim. On sighting his Morano jeep, they blocked it forcing him out of the vehicle and sped away with him towards Ogbaku community along the Owerri / Onitsha express way.
Osuoha was being driven home with his parents after the church service when the kidnappes struck.
Four days after he was adducted, no words have come from the kidnappers and this has heightened fears about his safely.
