Frontline politician in Imo State, Chief Gibson Achonwa Njemanze (Oyiga) has scored Governor Rochas Okorocha 75% in delivery of dividends of democracy to Imolites.

Oyiga who spoke to Trumpeta, noted that Okorocha has backed up his performance with visible evidence as most of the projects embarked upon by his administration are there for Imolites to see and verify.

“We have seen physical projects that are visible and can be assessed at any time” he declared.

He hailed the introduction of Community Government Council (CGC) in the state, describing it as a bold attempt by the Governor to decentralize power. He debunked insinuations in some quarters that the CGC is designed to erode the culture of the people, arguing that it is a measure to bring government closer to the people.

Oyiga backed Governor Okorocha’s move to the newly formed All Progressive Congress (APC), saying it is a credible alternative to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He added that the misrule of the PDP in the state is among key factors that compelled Governor Okorocha to interact with other national leaders to float the new party, called APC.

The one-time Owerri Federal Constituency major contender said the APC has the political nerve to move Nigeria forward, saying the party has the required political nerve to take the nation out of political doldrums, adding that it is the party to watch in 2015.

On the present status of APGA in the state, Oyiga pointed out APGA has been mismanaged in the South-East geo-political zone in recent times, adding that the demise of late Ikemba Nnewi, Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, affected the progress of the party in the region, adding that it is important Igbos align to a national political party at this point in time.

He frowned at the indiscriminate award of Ezeship to undeserving persons in the state, saying it should be resisted at all cost. He condemned a situation where some persons parade themselves as Ezes without informing Eze Imo.

Oyiga said Okorocha deserves total support especially from the people of Owerri zone, saying “he has done much to beautify the city and renovated dilapidated roads and constructed new ones.

On the quest of Owerri zone to produce Imo Governor in 2015, Oyiga said “it is good to allow those in office to deliver dividends of democracy. Those in power should be allowed to deliver their campaign promises. It is premature to be discussing 2015 when we are in 2013. It is the constitutional right of Rochas to aspire for the governorship in 2015”.

He described zoning as an opportunity to create chances for less competitive politicians, while he applauded the Commissioner of police, Muhammed Katsina for improving the security situation in the state.
