Judging from bitter rivalries that heralded this weekend’s rerun election for the Oguta State Assembly position; it would be fist of furry for contenders to the throne.

The build up to the election has been characterized by undemocratic practices leading to accusations and counter accusations from the warring factions.

However, the battle would be a straight fight between the PDP candidate Chief Eugene Dibiagwu and ACN counterpart Walter Uzonwanne. All parties in the battle are turbo charged for a great showdown.

With few hours to the decisive Oguta state assembly Bye-Election, the preferred and the most favourite candidate, the PDP flagbearer in the contest, Chief Eugene Dibiagwu has given reasons why the present government is throwing everything within reach to stop him from this weekend’s election.

Cross fire attacks and verbal exchanges from main contenders to the position, APGA and PDP, have characterized build up to the election in Oguta for the much desired state Assembly seat.

In his speech to people of Oguta ahead the June 29, 2013 re-run election, Dibiagwu disclosed that enemies of Oguta and indeed the oil producing people have a mischievous plan to achieve their selfish agenda according to him, “now the same enemies of our LGA, who are head bent and unrepentant in their resolve to continue their exploitation of our God given resources while under developing Oguta LGA have shamelessly started road and electricity projects in some communities because of the election as a late-minute tactics, it therefore shows that the present administration had all these while deliberately denied Oguta people there amenities if not for this election.

I am also aware of their evil plans to buy your votes with government money. On this regard, I urge you to collect the money if you cannot say no and still go ahead for me. It is part of our ISOPADEC and flood money and today we are waiting for our change “Dibiagwu added.

While urging Oguta people to be steadfast in their resolve to vote for the candidate of their choice, Dibiagwu request INEC to ensure a free and fair election to avoid scratching the integrity of the commission and credibility of the election adding that anything to the contrary will not only be unacceptable but shall be resisted by the people.
