The Sole Administrator of the Owerri North Local government Council, Engr. Chuks Ololo has pledged his support and co-operation of his Council to the Diocese of Egbu. Engr Ololo made the pledge during the maiden courtesy visit of the Bishop of the Diocese of Egbu, Anglican Communion, the Rt. Rev Geoffrey Okorafor to the Sole Administrator of the Council at the Orie Uratta Headquarters. The Sole Administrator who was full of gratitude to the Bishop for the visit expressed the t desire of the Council to work with the Diocese of Egbu.
Engr. Ololo noted that the stepping of the Bishop’s feet on the soil of the Council would remain indelible and must be felt, pointing out the Council was most blessed by the presence of the Bishop in the Council. He said they were looking forward to not only feeling the impact but seeing the effect of this contact which would make the difference.
Ololo remarked that God has brought Bishop Okorafor forth to pull every body that he would need to, like the Biblical Abraham, hold his hands up and pledged that the Council would join in holding up the hand so that it does not drop because should that hand drop so would their lives but that such, he inferred, was not the plan of God.
Earlier in his address the Bishop of the Diocese of Egbu, the Rt. Rev Geoffrey Okorafor had acknowledged that it was only right and proper that having come on board as the second Bishop of the Diocese of Egbu and being new to the environment one must take cognizance of those piloting affairs in these areas which are within the jurisdiction of the Diocese and to associate and familiarize one with them.
Bishop Okorafor who succeeded the pioneer Bishop of the Diocese, Rt. Rev Prof Emmanuel Iheagwam that retired on May 2, 2013 on attaining the retirement age of 70 years pointed out that the Diocese of Egbu transverse three local government areas in the State and they are the entire Ngor/Okpala and parts of Owerri West and Owerri North, with Owerri North hosting the Cathedral Church of All Saints Egbu and the seat of the Bishop. While stating that the visit was his first port of call to Councils within the Diocese, the Bishop said the visit was essentially not only to interact with the Sole administrator and his Council members but also to solicit their support and co-operation to the Diocese. He averred that the Council and Church needed each other, promising to continue to uphold the Sole administrator and Council in prayers. He stressed that prayer makes great difference in the life of every human being and organization. The Bishop was accompanied on the visit by the Clerical Synod and Administrative Secretary to the Bishop, Ven. Nathan Amaechi, The Archdeacon of Egbu and Cathedral Administrator, Ven. Ugochukwu Ekeada, Ven. Ezechukwu Onwukwe, Rev Progress Okoroafor, Chaplain 11 to the Bishop and The Diocesan Press secretary, Mr. George Best Okoroh. To receive the Bishop along with the Sole Administrator were the Director of Admin and General Services, Barr. Ettoh, The Director of Finance and Supplies, Mrs. Ekenjoku and the Chief of Staff Hon Kelechi Opara.
