War of All-Stars in Owerri, As
South-East Soccer Competition
Holds at Dan Anyiam

A war of All-Stars International is at the moment brewing as various All-star teams from Abia, Enugu, Anambra and Imo converge tomorrow at the Dan Anyiam stadium for a one-day Football competition.
Words reaching “Trumpeta” Sports desk indicates that the competition is the zonal qualifying games to produce the team that will represent the zone at this years All-Stars games in Abuja later in the year.
Hon. Ugochukwu Nnah, president of the Imo All-Stars International club in a chart with Trumpeta Sports Chief revealed that the games will start by 9am Saturday and will also end the same day.
He also said the draws for the matches will be made in the morning to determine who play’s who in the two way play-off before the final is decided.
According to him, the competition will also be a good avenue for the ex-Internationals from the states to once more rekindle the nostalgic feelings of the good-old days as team mates, either at the national teams or at club levels as well as football matches as opponents.
Also speaking, one time General Manager of Heartland FC (Iwuanyanwu National) and Imo FA Chairman, Chief Uche Ejimofor, who is the GM of Imo All Stars gave insight on the stars that will be participating in the one-day event.
For Imo will be players like Kanu Nwankwo (Nigerian Football Ambassador) who will be the biggest Fish on parade along side his brother Ogbonna Kanu. Also for Imo will be Lawerence Ukaegu (Denjuma), Mike Obi, Ramson Madu and Monday Ibekwe. Raymond Ebede and Uche Akubike etc.
For Enugu will be Kingsley Obiekwu (Shagari), Emeka Nwaobodo (continental) and Ben Ugwu (Surugede) while for the Abians we wil see the likes of Jerry Uche, Uwakwe Eke, Okechukwu Uche and Bethel Orji (Nasa pass-master).

Mock Champions League: Barca will Retain their Trophy-Campus

With only two games decided in the group stages of the on-going Owerri mock-champions league, coach of the defending champion Barcelona, Mr Ikechukwu Patrick Osuji (campus) has declared his teams intention to hang on to the trophy they won last season.
The declaration is coming on hill of the much anticipated tie between Barcelona the current champions and Manchester united who were the maiden champions six years ago. The encounter which is the third game of this years competition will see Barca of campus Academy persuasion battling it out for the three point at stake with Man United of he Orji village persuasion at the old Township Stadium, Owerri on Sunday July 28.
It would be recalled that in maiden edition (2007) Man United won the trophy after beating Chelsea in the final to become the maiden champion of the YSFON organized Owerri mock-champions league at the Owerri Township School field now known as City School, Owerri along Wetheral Road.
On the other hand, Barcelona who joined the fray 3 years after the championship began only won their first trophy last season after beating Olympic Marseille in the final at Dan Anyiam stadium.
Campus, who is the proprietor and head-coach of Campus Academy is confident of his boy’s ability to retain the trophy the club won last year adding that with the level of discipline and technical strategies adopted by his team, the job can be done.
Mr Patrick however, used the opportunity to express his gratitude to YSFON, Owerri chapter that is ably led by Mr Ndubuisi Opara for their resilience in organizing championship of this magnitude which according to him wil help in keeping our youths off the streets as well as improving their talents for a better future.
He then called on private organizations to avail themselves with such opportunities to market their goods and services as well as given back to the society by identifying with the competition in form of sporusorship.

Home Eagles Land In Abidjan

The Super Eagles landed safely in Abidjan, the Ivoirian capital on Thursday ahead of the final leg, African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against the Elephants scheduled for Saturday.
The team of 18 players and officials was led by NFF Vice President, Chief Mike Umeh and had on board, NFF Head, Technical, Dr. Emmanuel Ikpeme, President General of the Nigerian Football and Other Sports Supporters Club, Dr Rauf Ladipo and several other actors in the football fraternity.
The Air Afrique flight which conveyed the team from Lagos to Abidjan took about one hour, thirty minutes to land in smooth condition with showers of rain welcoming the team to the city. The flight landed at exactly 10:50 local time (11:50am Nigerian time) and was well received by members of the Ivoirian FA.
The bus that took the team to its hotel in the heart of the city took about 30minutes to reach its destination at Ibis Hotel. The team promptly checked in and took its lunch immediately. The Eagles will have their first training session at 3:30pm local time (4:30 Nigerian time) to coincide with the time the game will be played on Saturday.
On arrival, skipper of the side, Chigozie Agbim, sounded a note of warning to his teammates when he said that the good reception should not be translated to mean that the Elephants have given
