The whirlwind of misfortune blowing across political parties in the country has reached Imo State with the newly-formed All Progressive Congress APC, within spitting distance disaster.
Even as the merger that saw APGA factions in Imo led by Okorocha, Udenwa’s ACN, CPC and ANPP is yet to come off the block, crisis is facing the party which may affect its strong hold in Imo.
If reports emanating from the All Progressive Congress APC in the state, is anything to go by, the party is heading for yet another serious leadership crisis in the State as the leaders are at daggers-drawn.
An impeccable source yesterday told Trumpeta about fresh plans by Governor Rochas Okorocha to scuttle all efforts by the Leaders of APC in the state to chart a way forward for the party.
According to the information, a meeting of the state leadership of the party had after its meeting at the weekend scheduled for yet another meeting with Chief Achike Udenwa, Dr. Emeka Nwajiuba, Chief Mike Ahamba and others on Friday September 13, 2013 to seal discussions on the formation of the State, Local Government and Ward Officers of the party in the state.
Ahead of this meeting, another meeting was surprisingly arranged for yesterday by Governor Okorocha at the Ahiajoku Centre where he invited all the Local Government and Ward Chairmen, Secretaries, Women Leaders and Youth Leaders of all the merging political parties without the authorization of the Leaders.
Piqued by the action, the State Chairmen of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP and others issued a public announcement directing its members to shun the meeting by the Governor.
According to a release by the aggrieved faction, the release is in contrast with earlier agreements of the merging parties for an agreeable date which the Governor ignored.
Confirming this development to Trumpeta, one of the leading members of CPC in the state, Chief Mike Ahamba did not only say that he will not attend, but went further to criticize the action which he said did not have the approval of APC Leadership.
