Youths from Orlu Senatorial Zone under the umbrella of Orluzurumee Youth Assembly (OYA) has disowned Governor Rochas Anayo Okorocha and stripped him off the Grand patron position they bestowed on him on the 30th of December 2009.
In a release signed by the Comr Precious Nwadike, National President, Comr Kyrian Echerebe, National Secretary, and Comr Ebere Okeke, the Ag Publicity Secretary disclosed that the action was borne out of a motion moved by Comr Chigozie of Oru-East during their 12th of October general meeting and was put to vote and 92 voted in support of the withdrawal/strip while only I vote against.
The release also has it that the resolution is in line with Section 7 sub section 3 of their constitution which states that “Grand Patron of OYA shall be a man with stable character and passion for youth development and empowerment”.
After an exhaustive deliberation on issues bordering on youth development and governance in Imo State under Okorocha, OYA felt disappointed that within his time as the State Governor, he only succeeded in giving credence to the saying that “the best time to ascertain the integrity of a man is when given power”. OYA is of the viewed that Okorocha has only subjected the people of Imo State to untold hardship at the same time promoted some anti-life program one of which was the recent abortion law “which you claimed you signed erroneously is unacceptable”.
However, the group said the resolution is to save the Assembly from the embarrassment associated with the continual stay of Okorocha as their Grand Patron when the Assembly is known as a proactive youth organization that crusades for youth empowerment and good governance.
