UPP Has No Factions, Says Publicity Secretary

Sequel to the Publication of an Owerri based tabloid (name withheld) on Monday 21st October, 2013 edition that United Progress Party (UPP) Imo State chapter has been thrown into crisis, the Imo State Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Chidi Emeagi has described the publication as cheap black mail aimed at smearing the image of the new born political party by the Editor of the Newspaper.
Debunking the allegation on Wednesday 23rd October, 2013, Mr Emeagi expressed shock over the insinuation against UPP which is a young and vibrant political party that was registered by Independent national Electoral Commission (INEC) on 24 October 2012.
According to him, the publication stated that Dr Imoh Osmond Ukanacho who is the party flag bearer of Imo State Gubernatorial come 2015 is no more happy with the state Chairman of the party and there is factions in UPP Imo State Chapter. Mr Emeagi stated that Dr Ukanacho still maintains the good working relationship between him and the leadership of the party in Imo state adding that UPP has no factions neither crisis but always intact in order to ensure that the party occupies Imo Douglas House come 2015.
He challenged the editorial and Management team of the newspaper to mention their source. The publicity secretary described the newspaper as week-old newspaper in Imo state which tends to seek for prominence by publicizing such false hood information.
He noted that the party has no serving elective position officer holders but would soon get them after setting up mercenaries in motion alongside with mobilization strategies within the 27 council areas of Imo state adding that some serving lawmakers in Imo State House of Assembly have concluded plans to join UPP.
