Imo Assembly, State Exco On Collision Course, Over 10-Storey Hotel Building At Heroes’ Square

The state legislature and executive arm of the Imo state government are on collision course again over the owner and location of a proposed 10-storey floor hotel building in the state.
The proposed hotel building which is still under construction and at the seventh floor level is located behind the Heroes’ Square premises on Concorde Hotel Road. A land believed to be part government property.
At a motion of urgent importance moved by the member representing Isiala Mbano State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Simeon Iwunze on Tuesday, Members unanimously agreed to wade into the matter when the three-man committee led by the Deputy Speaker, Donatus Ozoemena, Honourables Chino Obioha and Iwunze was appointed.
According to Iwunze who spearheaded the onslaught, the multiple storey building, suspected to be a private properly is a security threat and risk to Imo citizens who would be using the Heroes Square for social and official functions, adding that one Daniel Kalu and the management of the Owerri Capital Development Authority, OCDA, do appear before the House for explanations on the true identity or identities of the owner and investor developing the property.
Trumpeta reliably gathered that the House of Assembly team who went on ad hoc committee duties made starting revelations concerning the true owners of the controversial projects and outcome will soon be made public.
It was learnt that the confessions by the contractors and workers handling the projects pointed to a direction that is linking the executive arm of the government. But the House members however requested the affected workers and other interested parties to report to the House on Monday for further clarifications.
