The mild drama that ensued shortly after the match past during the 2018 Workers day celebration on Tuesday May 1, 2018 at Heroes Square in New Owerri has continued to attract comments from different quarters in the state over the One Million Naira cash gift awarded to a pregnant woman.
Trumpeta gathered that the woman by name Mrs Izuogu who was reported to be a staff of the Ministry of Justice and hails from Ideato South, same LGA with the State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha dazzled spectators at the Heroes Square including the number one citizen of the state during the match past which prompted the Governor to immediately after the exercise request for an audience with the pregnant woman.
During the interaction which was conducted to the glare of the public, Governor Okorocha inquired from the woman why she took a risk in taking part in the match past even with her heavy tummy.
The woman in quick response replied that her reason was because she believed that if she took part in the match past and the governor notices her, that he (the Governor) would certainly call to see and appreciate her.
It was also gathered that at that juncture the Governor who was apparently captivated and at the same time overwhelmed by the woman’s strong will to take part in the match past rewarded her with a prize sum of One Million naira, cash to the admiration of the crowed.
The governor however stated in his address during the event that Imo workers are very patient promising to pay the minimum wage prize by the Federal Government any time it is approved.
