Feelers emerged yesterday that Mr. Ugochukwu Iheme, the co – worker of slain Ikwumezie Charles Emeka has died at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owerri.
Iheme, according to a source, was receiving treatment at FMC since September 14, 2012 after he was allegedly shot by soldiers.
It will be recalled that the landlord of the Premises where Ikwumezie was shot had petitioned the Imo State Commissioner of Police over the shooting and killing of the victim.
In a petition to Imo State Commissioner of Police dated Sept 17th, 2012 by Njemanze and Njemanze, Solicitors, Advocate and Notary Public of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, for Mr. Kenneth Igwe, the owner of the premises behind Maria Assumpta Cathedral Owerri, they alleged that Iheme received shots at the neck when he demanded why his colleagues should be gunned down.
The petition which was signed on behalf of the law firm, Ezeohiri Fred Njemanze (Esq) urged the Imo State Police Commissioner “to investigate this incredible cold blood murder by these soldiers and their co – travelers”.
The letter continued “The deceased was not an armed robber or a kidnapper as the soldiers wish to paint we pray that the law take its course in this situation otherwise most of us may be killed under the guise or pretext of being branded kidnappers”.
