Piqued by the order of Governor Hope Uzodinma over ban on the use of consultants by the management of Owerri capital Development Authority (OCDA), the General Manager, Mr Ikpemezie may have landed himself in trouble over allegation of extortion from the contractors.
Trumpeta Newspaper investigation reveals that prior to Government directive on the suspension of the use of consultants, that the Management of OCDA had levied no fewer than eighty consultants to the sum of one hundred and twenty thousand (N120,000)naira for which they were authorized in writing to operate as agents of the authority with a ten percent commission.
But suddenly after the ban, the Management of OCDA hurriedly issued another withdrawal letter to the consultants where they technically withdraw their services and the payment of the agreed ten percent commission on revenue.
However, the Management of OCDA Trumpeta gathered are still using the consultants services without the usual ten percent commission on revenue collected.
Our investigation reveals that the consultants who are working to recoup their initial financial commitment are now collecting their commissions without documentary to the OCDA Management thereby impuning on the revenue of the State.
