Assault on Woman in Emekuku; Police Arrest 5, One At Large
At last, the Imo State Police Command have arrested five persons allegedly involved in the assault on woman in Ubegbelu, Emekuku, in Owerri North LGA of Imo State.
A viral video where young men attacked a harmless woman in the area stunned the internet leading to outcry in the populace.
After a slight delay in apprehending the suspects, Police in Imo has informed that five suspects are already in their custody with one at large.
Trumpeta learnt from police that the suspects will be dragged to court soon to face charges.
A statement by the Imo State Police Command signed by Henry Okoye, a DSP, made available to Trumpeta, states that the “Police Command wishes to provide an update on the investigation ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, into the viral video showing Mrs. Agu Ndididamaka being assaulted in Emekuku, Owerri North LGA. In furtherance of the CP’s directive for swift action, operatives of the X-Squad Unit have arrested five suspects linked to the barbaric assault.
“The arrested suspects are:
1. Onyekachi Njoku, 40 years ‘m’
2. Chiazor Osuji, 45 years ‘m’
3. Chukwuma Iwuala, 46 years ‘m’
4. Eugene Njoku, ‘m’
5. Njoku Emmanuel, 35 years ‘m’ all of Uboegbelu in Emekuku in Owerri North LGA
“All five suspects have made confessional statements admitting their roles in the attack. Meanwhile, the sixth suspect, identified as Onyedikachi Njoku, is still at large, and operatives are intensifying efforts to apprehend him.
“The Commissioner of Police condemns the assault in its entirety and reaffirms that intimidation of citizens who lawfully cooperate with the Police will not be tolerated. The arrested suspects will be arraigned in court soonest with the appropriate criminal charges”
