Security details comprising policemen in charge of protecting lives and property at the premises of the Imo State House of Assembly have to thank God for sparing their lives when part being fixed of the new roof being by a firm collapsed.
It would be recalled that in a bid to salvage the gigantic Assembly complex suffering from worse condition with leaking roof, the present administration embarked on reconstruction works. Part of the rehabilitation is de-roofing of the entire complex.
Trumpeta learnt that some of the iron pillars fixed for the new roof at the weekend collapsed and fell on the building thereby destroying a reasonable part of the building wall.
Fortunately some security operatives incharge of protection of life and property who took shade at the premises at the complex escaped death by the whiskers when the roof crashed.
Some security of the operatives who were at the complex scampered for safety when the roof caved in.
Meanwhile, fear has gripped staffers of the state legislature over the development as they live in fear about their safety in the complex.
